Surfing is one of the best ways to get youth of all ages motivated, healthy, and outside, in a culture where technology, addiction, and fast food is running rampant. Leaving the noise behind and paddling out brings peace and creates a place where it's easier to connect with our Creator. Not only that, but it is topping the list of most fun things to do on the planet!
We're working hard to make your first surf experience the best it can be! Since wave conditions have a huge impact on learning, we pick our instruction days based solely on forecasted conditions and local knowledge. We use forecasting models that allow us to give you 2-3 days notice before each session.
We have great coaching for you. Surf Tent Head Coach Jerry Upchurch (AKA 'Upy') grew up surfing in Hawaii, surfed competitively for well over a decade in the ESA and has since become a successful surf coach, founding Upchurch Surfing Academy. He has coached several youth who have gone on to compete and win at regional and national levels of competition. 'Coach Upy' has established a coaching team and training procedure for surf tent so that our beginning surf lessons can be safe and effective.
We'll be offering lessons from June through August roughly every other week. Parents please feel free to stay or sign up for a lesson too! All ages are welcome.
Get on the list for Surf Tent’s email. Each email will be sent 2-3 days before an instruction session with details on where the tent will be set up next. You will also get a link to sign up for the upcoming session. We’ll send fun surf tips and advice as well. You can unsubscribe at any time.
When you receive the email, click on the sign up link and choose your 2 hour time slot. We will send out an email if there is a cancelation. If you need to cancel for any reason please email surftent@onelife.org to give someone on the waiting list an opportunity to participate. You are eligible for up to three free lessons this summer!
You will receive a confirmation email with time, location, and a simple list of needed things (water, sunscreen, etc.) to bring. We’ll also send a quick reminder email the day before your lesson. If you don’t have a surfboard, we’ve got you covered.
